NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) _ Bicyclists will be able to cross four Rhode Island bridges including two normally closed to bike traffic on a charity ride being sponsored by Rhode Island's bridge authority.
The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority says cyclists may pedal across the Jamestown, Mount Hope, Newport and Sakonnet bridges on on the 26-mile ride Sept. 15. The Newport and Jamestown bridges are typically closed to bicycles.
The new Sakonnet Bridge pedestrian path is near completion and will be done in time for the event.
RITBA says hundreds of participants are expected to take part.
The ride begins at the Park and Ride in North Kingstown and ends just outside of Roger Williams University in Bristol.
