WOONSOCKET, R.I. (AP) — Police say a lockdown at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket has been lifted.
Woonsocket police say the hospital was put on lockdown at about 7 p.m. Thursday after a man called 911 from outside the facility. Police told WLNE-TV that the man had threatened suicide.
Sgt. Matthew Ryan said police negotiated with the man as he sat in his vehicle in the parking lot of the hospital and then used a stun grenade before taking him into custody.
Woonsocket Police Chief Thomas Carey said there were no injuries during the incident, and that police used their training to take the man into custody safely.
Police didn't identify the man, and said unspecified charges might be filed on Friday.
The man was evaluated at the hospital before police took him away.
