PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A grand jury has indicted a 36-year-old man on murder charges in the deaths of his parents in North Providence last year.
Attorney General Peter Kilmartin said Thursday that Mark Yu was indicted on two counts of murder and two counts of failure to report a death.
Authorities allege he killed 60-year-old Young Yu and 61-year-old Yeon Yu at their home in July 2013. Police said previously the Yus had been dead for about two days when their bludgeoned bodies were found wrapped in bedding. Police said they found Mark Yu locked in a bathroom.
Mark Yu was charged earlier in district court and ordered held without bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned in superior court on Feb. 5.
A message was left for Yu's public defender.
The motive for the killings is not clear.
