PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Pulitzer Prize-winning author and historian David McCullough has been selected to deliver the keynote address at Providence College's annual St. Dominic Weekend.
McCullough is scheduled to speak on Oct. 5 during a weekend of events to honor groups and individuals who have donated to the college.
McCullough has won the National Book Award and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. His books include "1776,'" "John Adams,'' "Greater Journey: Americans in Paris'' and "Truman.''
McCullough's speech will take place in conjunction with the dedication of a major new academic building. The 63,000-square-foot Ruane Center for the Humanities will serve as the home of the Development of Western Civilization and Liberal Arts Honors programs, the English and history departments and the School of Arts & Sciences.
