Providence Man gets Life in Prison for Murder

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ A Providence man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing another man during a robbery last year.

Thirty-year-old Michael Tully was sentenced Thursday by a Providence Superior Court judge for the shooting death of 26-year-old Ralph Joseph at the Manton Heights development on May 30, 2012. A jury convicted him of first-degree murder and conspiracy in April.

Prosecutors say Tully and an unindicted co-conspirator set up a drug deal with Joseph with the intent of robbing him. When Joseph showed up at the meeting place, authorities say Tully and the other man pointed guns at him and demanded money. Joseph started running away, but Tully shot him in the head.

State Attorney General Peter Kilmartin said Tully has no regard for the law or human life.
