Providence suspends strip club's license

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A Providence strip club has been closed for 20 days following a prostitution investigation resulted in the arrests of two women.

WPRI-TV reports the Providence Board of Licenses voted Wednesday to suspend the Satin Doll's license for 20 days. The establishment was also ordered to pay a $4,000 fine.

Providence Police say two dancers offered to perform sexual acts for undercover detectives. The business has denied the accusations.

Providence Mayor Angel Taveras has proposed a "one-strike" law that would close any club that employs underage dancers or where dancers are caught soliciting customers.

In October the licensing board fined Cheaters Gentlemen's Club $5,000 and suspended its license for 45 days after authorities say it illegally hired a 14-year-old girl and allowed prostitution.
