WARWICK, R.I. (AP) — As Rhode Island's new health insurance marketplace prepares to open, many small businesses are asking: Will premiums be more affordable?
HealthSource RI aims to bring change to the health care system that will ultimately lower costs through better, more efficient care. But the chairman of the Smaller Business Association of New England says many of his members are taking a "wait-and-see" attitude.
Philip Papoojian is also the president and chief operating officer of a small business in West Warwick. He says health costs have climbed at an unsustainable pace in recent years and he's looking for relief. He plans to talk to his broker about the possible benefits of using the new marketplace and poll his 32 employees.
Enrollment begins Tuesday.
