PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Rhode Island's general treasurer is sponsoring a forum to come up with ways to promote financial empowerment in urban communities.
General Treasurer Gina Raimondo is holding a Financial Empowerment Forum in Providence on Tuesday morning. The event is part of Raimondo's ``Smart Money Tour'' and will touch on topics including how small businesses can access capital and what steps people can take to become more financially literate.
Raimondo says one of her priorities is finding innovative ways to help Rhode Islanders better manage their finances.
A top official with the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston is expected to take part in the hour-long forum.
