PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A grand jury has indicted an 18-year-old on a murder charge for his alleged role in the fatal shooting of a 12-year-old girl outside a Providence graduation party.
The Rhode Island attorney general announced the indictment Tuesday. In addition to the murder charge, Luis "Didi" Gonzalez also faces two counts of conspiracy, three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and four counts of firing a gun during a violent crime.
The shooting in June killed Aynis Vargas and injured three women.
Gonzalez was a juvenile when the shooting took place but is being tried as an adult.
Four others have been charged in the case. Twenty-one-year-old Ricardo Vasquez pleaded guilty in September and was sentenced to life in prison.
It was unclear Tuesday if Gonzalez has an attorney.
