RI State Police step up Seatbelt Law Enforcement

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Rhode Island State Police are stepping up enforcement of seat belt and child restraint laws before and after the Memorial Day holiday.

The "Click It or Ticket'' campaign to crack down on those violating seat belt and child restraint laws started Monday and will run through Sunday, June 2.

Superintendent Col. Steven O'Donnell says state police also will be joining with local law enforcement during the long holiday weekend in Operation CARE. That effort targets those driving under the influence, speeders and aggressive drivers.

State police will have extra patrols assigned from Friday through Sunday.
